Nice Treat – it was a nice Friday treat to say the least. Good game. Air 21 came back from 21 points down to within 1 but just came short at the end. They gave a good fight. I think Coach Franz Pumaren can’t be too mad about the effort, at least during the latter part of the game. Looks like, the Express are really back in the game. End game result, TnT 86, Air 21 83.

Canaleta for Senator – okay, maybe not. but at least Coach Chot Reyes might want to consider him for the National Team. He has the height, the athleticism, can play multiple positions, and looks like he would thrive in the dribble & drive system (that’s what it’s called right? correct me if I’m wrong please). And it doesn’t hurt that he had experienced playing international ball.

Cool Cat – that nickname suits him well. From his college days until the pro, he has shown that skill wherein it feels like he’s always in control of his game. It must be the La Salle system huh? I’m glad him and coach Fran are back in each others arms. We’re hoping to see more of that, Mr. Cortez. Keep it up.

Little Piece of Heaven – talking about getting a nice treat, it’s really something when you see a competitive, exciting basketball game. Those games wherein the result comes down to the last possession. The kind of game that makes me stand up and hold my breath in anticipation of the last shot, miss or make. It’s a different kind of high.

Karma Police – so this is how it feels like when I was being difficult to my manager ha? Really, life has a way of getting back at you. I remember when I was giving my managers a hard time because I thought I know better and that their ideas suck. And even if i was correct about their ideas being bad or not favorable, I shouldn’t have given them the eye and the shoulder mixed with facial expressions and sarcasm. But to be fair with me, I wasn’t like that the whole time. I have come to a point where I learned to respect their views, sucky or not =P So, I should be getting the same result sooner or later right? Positivity! 🙂

Just A Phase  – I told myself lately, Man, I miss those people. I never thought I would. My former bosses, colleagues, my former station, being in class, etc. Yeah, I think I’m going through that phase. This shall pass. I guess I wasn’t prepared emotionally and that everything happened so fast I didn’t get to prepare for this. Oh well. It’s all good. This should help me appreciate the things I have right now and cherish the moment. Another life lesson from the universe.

He’s The norMAN! – what a way to announce your return. That goes for Norman Black, who for some time was away from the professional basketball scene to lord over the collegiate ranks. And he’s back, this time with another championship belt to brag about. He’s on a roll man. He won 5 titles in a row for Ateneo and then followed suit with another championship on his first season back to PBA! What a genius. He’s truly a gift to Philippine basketball. Keep it up, coach!

Little Piece of Heaven – I’m not sure if I have mentioned about this on one of the random thoughts but really I find comfort in seeing an organized, clean room. May it be in a magazine or our own room, it’s just pleasing to the eyes and soul. It feels like it’s so peaceful and relaxing even just by looking at it, or better yet, being in it. I guess this goes as well for the other aspects of our lives. Universe is telling us to be organized, throw away the clutter, clean up, and you should have a peace of mind. Amen.

2013 NBA All-Stars – the starters for this year’s All Star game was announced earlier and I must say the result was I think fair and the players selected were deserving. For the East we have Rajon Rondo, DWade, LBJ, ‘Melo, and KG. On the other side we have CP3, Kobe, Durant, Blake Griffin, and Dwight. Of course there will the “snubs” but I’m sure they’ll get their chance to come off the bench as an All Star reserve. If they’re really deserving then I’m sure the coaches will notice. I was just wondering, would ‘Melo throw a pass to KG? Would they chest bump after making a nice play? Talk about awkward. For those who didn’t know what happened a couple of weeks ago, you need to look it up, now. Let the awkwardness games begin!

Random thoughts while watching the NBA opening game between the Hollywood Lakers versus my Dallas Mavericks.

The Future of Mavs – is definitely bright. And you can bet Jae Crowder is going to be part of that promising future. The rook looked like a veteran out there. Showed a glimpse of respectable defense, a couple of rebounds, a few jump shots, and throw in a legit three to cap it all off. I say legit because that stroke looked like he has that three shot really on his offensive arsenal. Steal of the draft. I hope he continues his progress and become a formidable player for the Mavs.

Happy With What I’m Seeing – right now, My Mavs is up by 13 points with less than 9 minutes remaining and so far so good.  My Mavs seemed to have jelled nicely during the off season. Just like with Crowder, I hope it continues and that we sustain it. I know it’s just one game, well, it’s just three quarters and a half. I shouldn’t be too happy with whatever’s happening, right? The season is long and again it’s just day one. Mavs all the way.

Little Piece of Heaven – seeing a live NBA game on TV.  Since they have decided to charge more for NBA TV, it has become a rarity for me at least to see a live game on free TV. I must say my thanks to Studio 23 for at least being considerate to the feelings of a poor handsome basketball fan to bring the last game of a triple header this opening day. Thank you.

$90M – no that’s not the income generated by the NBA today. not the salary of Eddy Curry ( I should be crucified for saying that). not whatever you think it is. 90 million dollars is the luxury tax that the Lakers will have to pay next year if and when they decide to sign Howard for a long term contract. You think that’s a whole lot of money? Not! compared to what they are going to earn/they are earning now and for the next 20 years (they just signed a TV contract worth $20 billion. not a typo. that’s really with a B). Rich gets richer.

Pressure’s On – for everyone on the Lakers not named Kobe Bryant. Dwight Howard (with the shadow of the great Laker centers hovering around his grave), Steve Nash (a little bit), Mike Brown (anything less than a Finals appearance would mean end of the road for the coach with a roster like this). It’s just one game. You have 81 more and then some to prove every doubter wrong including Mr. Mavericks and the awesome owner of this blog.

82 – 0 – so much for the Lakers getting a sweep of the regular season. not today. not this year. not against My Mavs. Now, Dallas has a chance to go 82 and 0. alright. it’s just one game. I heard you.

Dallas 99, Los Angeles 91.

Bench Decorum – come on team, you know better. I like the way you’re trying to improve the game and such but I think this is a little too much. You take away the excitement and you make the players and coaching staff hold back. I understand that you’re thinking of things like it might help escalate an altercation on the court into something else if players are standing there on the bench and all but it’s not like it has happened one too many times in any of your games. Again, I understand. I just see more disadvantages than benefits from this rule. Well, what do I know right? I haven’t seen the full details of the rule I must admit; just sharing my two cents.

Bunch of Flop – and in another basketball development, NBA is now going to start penalizing players who flop. I like David Stern’s response to my man Dirk’s comment and said that he’d like to see more of their basketball skills rather than their acting skills. Good. Now the question is, how do you clearly define flopping? Do you give the benefit of the doubt that the player wasn’t really acting and it was a good defense during the game, and then when you review the game afterwards you come back at the player and say, “hey you! you’re suspended next game for being such a good actor!”? The ever wise man Mark Cuban explained it best here.

Little Piece of Heaven – Getting a haircut. Kind of got addicted to it, if that’s even possible. It’s relaxing. It’s like getting a massage for me. And, it doesn’t hurt that it leads to another piece of heaven, which is seeing a very handsome man in front of the mirror every time I look at it. I see you nodding. =)

Welcome Back, Penny! – I wish as a basketball player (or maybe not) but instead as a minority owner of his hometown Memphis. I’ll take that any day. Him getting involved in basketball is always a good thing. I guess I will have to add the Grizz on my list of favorite teams. Penny from heaven.

Need For Sheed – another player we would like to welcome back to the basketball world is Rasheed Wallace, as a player for the Knicks. I’m not sure if that’s the best place for him and his talent, same goes for the Knicks, but I think he still have something left in the tank. How much? That we will have to see this upcoming season. Whatever the situation is, I wish ‘Sheed all the best. Go get more of those technical fouls! =)

Kick The C! – It’s been a while. I’ll make sure to make time on Tuesday, August 21st. It’s kind of far, well IT is far, from our place but this is the only chance. I mean there are no other gigs for them, at least for this month. And, when was the last time I saw them play? A year ago? Universe help me out here.

Inuman Sessions Vol. 2 – If it isn’t too much to ask, can I attend this gig too? That’s a Friday and I don’t think it’s that bad for my health attending two gigs in a week, and then some. Sending it out there…

The Rich Gets Richer – What the F?? They got Dwight Howard too?? and they get to keep Pau Gasol in the process. That is just unfair. Has there ever a team who won all 82 games in one season? None. This team might be it. Dang…

Basketball Never Stops – The picture below is the true definition of it. I love this game.

Little Piece Of Heaven – Getting reconnected with old friends. Seeing them and finally talking to them after a long while and still having that connection. Such a wonderful feeling. It just shows that the friendship stays even you’re away from each other. Friends forever.

Behind The Scene – Recently, I was part of an interview for one of the company’s article. And man I hated it! It was a video shoot, just a couple of minutes short but the stress that I got from it? Hundred times the number of minutes I stood in front of the camera. It’s just not for me. I’d rather be one of those people doing the work behind the scenes. I dunno. I may be just making a big deal out of it but whatever. You know that cringing feeling? I know you can relate. Oh well.

Dark Secret #1

I must admit, I am liking the weather. I don’t know, maybe because it’s been a while since we experienced rain. Or maybe because I’m just getting old. Oh what the heck. I’ll just enjoy it. I used to tell people that I hate rain, this kind of weather, and here I am confessing to everyone that I finally give in. Bring the rain! (but not too much please. Thanks God).

Dark Secret #2

Another thing that I’m not fond of before is the morning shift. Man, I hated it before. Well, not so, compared to the entry above this, but I wasn’t just a fan. I have been in GY shift for the longest time and really loved it. Yeah, I’m enjoying it while it lasts. I know I won’t be on the same shift long enough. It’s a good break for me. Please don’t share this to others (especially my Manager =P).

Dark Top Secret #3

It will have to wait. I’ll let you know soon. Oh, you wanna know now? Then decode it: !@$^&$#@@#$%^&(*&^%$#@! got the message? =P No, that wasn’t me cursing. If you’re able to decipher it, please keep it a secret. Ssssssshhhh…. =D (I think I am getting crazier by the day).

Little Piece Of Heaven

Seeing someone helping out someone else. You know you see someone randomly helping out someone on the street, in malls, in office, or wherever? It just feels nice. I feel like giving them a hug. (Ooops maybe not, that might scare them away. for sure) It feels nice that somehow some people still cares. With the way our world works these days, seeing a genuine act of kindness is sadly, a rarity. But we’re still here. You and me. We’ll make this world a better place. Group hug.

Fab Find: Cool Taste Mango Juice

I was craving for it lately and I’m glad to find one finally! And it tastes good too. I am surprised we kind of have less of this nowadays, the mango juice. All I see know is orange and pineapple. Is it too pricey? Are we having a shortage of mangoes? Oh well… Let me just enjoy my newly found addiction. Gulp!
